Vivid Cuisine and The Kitchen Archive have once again joined forces, this time in the home city of our talented photographer – Thom Rigney in Melbourne, Australia.
It has been great to revisit this amazing city after almost six years and get in on the action in some of the hottest dining spots around. It was the coldest winter in some 100 years during our visit, but that did not stop us in the slightest.

As we have wrapped up the 2017 with this visit, stay tuned as we bring you stories from new locations throughout the year ahead. In fact, our first story is already live on restaurant Lûmé, headed by the super creative and charismatic Shaun Quade. Click here for the full story.
We have also covered a gem of a restaurant that has unfortunately closed its doors over Xmas of 2017, only to embark on a new journey and in search of fresh ideas for what maybe an exciting opening coming in a couple of years or so, on a different continent.
We are talking about NORA by Chef Sarin – the small Thai degustation restaurant, where those lucky enough to have visited – would experience authentic Thai cuisine - which has been pulled apart questioned and reimagined. Excited to share with you the new location in due course.

It has also been refreshing discovering new places and Chefs who are working tirelessly in the buzzing city to bring you a slice of their continent to Australia – on this trip we were lucky to have spent some time with Alejandro Saravia, who brings his roots and heritage from Peru and serves it up with enormous punch of flavour in his infamous cevicheria, Pastuso.
Having successfully opened Morena in Sydney back in 2007, was the first Peruvian restaurant in the country and on the back of the success – Chef Alejandro came to open Pastuso in Melbourne. He is also behind the drive he initiated over a decade ago, “A Taste of Peru”
- to educate, explore and introduce Peruvian cuisine to the people of Australia.
